Came for the brisket, stayed for the vibe. The staff actually smile like they mean it. My waitress recommended the smoked old fashioned and I almost ordered a second one. Almost.

Great food, no question. The ribs were sticky, smoky, perfect. Only reason not 5 stars? We booked a table for 8pm and didn't sit down until 8:20. They were apologetic and gave us free drinks though, so... yeah, I'll be back.

Smoke. Fire. Meat. Perfection.

Went on a Saturday night. Loud, busy, a little chaotic — in the best way. Mike had the brisket, I had the smoked chicken. Both incredible. Only small thing: my chicken took a bit longer than his steak. But the waitress checked on us twice and apologized. Would absolutely go back. Next time I'm trying the ribs.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. He's a quiet guy, doesn't like fuss. But when that ribeye came out — charred just right, pink inside — he actually smiled and said 'this is the one.' Our server, James, noticed it was a celebration and brought out a little brownie with a candle. No singing (thank god). Just a quiet 'happy birthday, mate.' That's the kind of place this is. We'll remember this night.

I've lived in Shoreditch for thirty-two years. Seen restaurants come and go. The Big Smoke? This one stays. I walk past almost every evening just to smell the wood smoke. Last week my grandson took me for my 74th. I had the grilled portobello (I don't eat meat anymore, doctor's orders) and he had everything. The boy couldn't stop talking about the burnt ends. Me? I just liked watching him eat. The young lady behind the bar remembered my name from the phone call. That never happens anymore. Thank you, darlings. I'll be back for my birthday.
